In previous centuries carols were traditionally sung around the streets and farms in the Stratton area, memories of this having been documented by the Saunders/Jewell family of Stratton and the Tape family of Morwenstow.
Following some research, Jory Bennett followed tracked down Thomas Merritt's lost cantata at Methodist Church in St Just. The Cornish Music Guild subsequently published the Cantata in 1988 as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Merritt held at Illogan.
In 1998 the Cornish Music Guild sponsored a concert commemorating the life of Joseph Emidy "Hidden Routes". The concert featured "The Eulogy of Emidy", by Paul Gladstone Reid which celebrated his life.
