25 Cornish Dances Written by Mike Hartland
Authors introduction: “From the beginning of my involvement with Cornish Music and Dance in 1983 with Carn Kernewek, and more recently with Asteveryn, I have tried to make a contribution to the repertoire of Music and Dance in Cornwall. My first piece of music, in 1983, was Michael’s Folly, (hence the title of my two music books!), but the first dance was the Seaton Furry. Over the last 20 years I have tried to write dances in keeping with traditional Cornish steps and formations. It is not for me to decide if I have succeeded! The dances range from simple Furry dances through a range of easy and not so easy Ceili dances to more complicated Demonstration dances. I have provided music for each dance, and in most cases the music is specifically for that dance, however that doesn’t mean that extra tunes or other tunes cannot be used.”
