Music Inspired by Cornwall
White Heritage is the signature tune of St Austell Town Band and was included on the band’s 1972 record which was also called White Heritage.
Clearly relating to the China Clay tips (White Pyramids), it incorporates the iconic Cornish floral dance.
Alfred Ashpole (born 1892 and died aged 98) and studied at the Guildhall School and then with such well-known brass band figures as Denis Wright and James Ord Hume. It is, therefore, not surprising that his output includes the some brass band music. The suites Hinchingbroke and Suite Ancienne are attributed to him as well as the fanfare, White Heritage.
