TREVISCOE MALE VOICE CHOIR
CORNISH GOLD
Musical Director: Alan Cooper
Accompanists: Inez Bilkey and Brian Mitchell Contralto: Patricia Ewing Elocutionist: Floda Small Duettists: Ern Hemmings and Alan Gilbert
This, Treviscoe Male Voice Choir’s fourth record, is a tribute from the present-day choir, to all those members, both past and present, who have contributed to those “golden years” since its foundation in 1936. Cornwall, renowned for its male voice choirs, has been well and truly served by Treviscoe, which, since its formation has been a proud ambassador to the world of music and to male voice singing in particular. Under its founder musical director, W. J. Russell Kessell, success was achieved in many spheres of competitive singing, its most notable being the championship at the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen in 1956. This “gold” of the international male voice section is proudly cherished by Treviscoe in the perpetual trophy they still possess. An artist’s impression of that trophy is depicted on the cover of this record, drawn and designed by Clive Gregor, a serving member of the choir. The inclusion of the two ladies on this record is a token of appreciation to Floda Small, who has been an elocutionist to the choir since its formation, and Patricia Ewing, contralto soloist with Treviscoe for several years.
To all who have contributed to the “gold” of Treviscoe’s long and proud history, this record is dedicated.
