ST. DENNIS MALE VOICE CHOIR

St. Dennis Male Voice Choir was formed in 1922 and, apart from a brief period during the second world war, has grown from strength to strength. It has enjoyed notable successes at Festivals and Championships; twice winners of the West of England Championships at Bournemouth, 2nd placings at The International Eistedfodd at Llangollen in 1978 and the Cornwall Music Festival in 1984. The present membership of 54 comes from a very wide area of mid-Cornwall and many members are employed by the large China Clay Company, E.C.L.P. Ltd., based at St. Austell (and to whom the choir expresses appreciation of their supportive interest). The principal Guest Soloist, Jean Camps, together with accompanist Doris Bullock have a long and outstanding association with the choir. Valerie Willcox became Musical Director in 1983 and in a very short time has made her presence felt. Directed by Valerie the choir has had a very successful two years including the Cornwall Music Festival, The Cornwall Male Voice Choir Championships and broadcasts on Radio Cornwall.
