The Rakka session takes place in the early evening at Lowender Peran, Cornwall’s Celtic Festival held annually at the end of October in the Hotel Bristol Newquay. Due to the Covid 19 emergency in 2020 the festival was celebrated on line and here are three performers who took part in the Racca session that year:
Teylu are Molly and Harriet (featuring Richard Trethewy in this video). Molly in has been busy in lockdown with her father (who is no stranger to the festival) helping keep music live with her Digikoostica sessions. Not put off by the pandemic she moved the acoustic sessions in Truro online. They recently recorded a soundtrack for an independent Cornish language film called “Mowes” by film maker Bryher Flanders, to be released this Christmas. And are also busy recording new tracks from the best shed ever in Probus!
Mark Lawrence is Festival regular and his family have been coming to the festival for a number of years performing with various visiting groups from the Isle of Man. Now performing as a solo artist he released is first album this year (available on bandcamp now).
Brother Sea, Here is their new single. Brother Sea are a southwest based Celtic folk band that brings together the acclaimed Duo Harbottle & Jonas with the award winning song writer Kris Lannen and the unmistakable fiddle tones of Annie Baylis on fiddle.
