1947: A male choir was formed in Newquay disbanded in 1956.
20th November 1974: Newquay Male Voice Choir re-formed.
1974-1982: Morley Trethewey, Musical Director.
1982-1987: Roy Magor, Musical Director.
1983: Took part in the 1,000 Voice Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
1987-2003: Alan Taylor, Musical Director.
2003-2015: Judith Pinguey (nee Mumby), Musical Director.
2010 & 2014: Awarded the President’s Plate by the Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs in recognition of the Choir’s community work.
2011: Judith Pinguey, Musical Director at the Cornwall International MVC Festival.
2011: Steve Bennett, Accompanist at the Cornwall International MVC Festival.
2013: Judith Pinguey, Musical Director at the Cornwall International MVC Festival.
2013: Chris Bennetts, Accompanist at the Cornwall International MVC Festival.
2015: Tour of Cardiff and South Wales.
2016: Tour of Yorkshire and Dorset.
2017: Oll an Gwella, the Choir’s capella group, presented with the Mayor’s Award.
The Choir supports the biennial Cornwall International Male Choral Festival.
Choir members have participated in the four massed choir concerts of the Cornish Federation of Male Voice concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
2018: Newquay MVC sang at the Boardmasters Festival in Newquay.
2018: Tour of Swansea and the Gower.
April 2016: Richard Braebrook, Musical Director, the Choir’s fifth MD since it was reformed in 1974.
2017: Simone Maier, Accompanist.
The Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at St Michael’s Church, Marcus Hill, Newquay.
