In the 1930s Mithian had its own musical quartet providing entertainment at various venues. The singers shown in the photograph were Norman Rose, Leonard Tippett (tenor), Franklyn Ennor (base) and Hedley Roberts. The accompanying pianist was Connie Mitchell. Leonard Tippett was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1935 and John Salmon took his place. They were considered to be a fine quartet and even had the opportunity to make a recording but one of the four refused so it never happened.
