Enniscaven is a hamlet 5 miles north-west of St Austell and near to Goss Moor
Pre-1933: Enniscaven Brass Band formed. (John Brush)
The life of this Enniscaven Brass Band seems to have been limited to the 1930s when several newspaper reports confirm its existence.
1934: Enniscaven Band with Mr W H Grigg as conductor at Methodist Sunday-school festival. (6 August 1934 – Western Morning News)
The Enniscaven Band MD was James Best, an ex-baritone / trombone player from the St Dennis Band. He was possibly their only conductor. (John Brush) Contradicts previous statement.
“Found this photo in my Grandads collection, it’s the Enniscaven Brass Band, possibly from the 1930s. The conductor is likely to have been a James Best, an ex-St Dennis player.” (Mike Gascoigne in Facebook – Cornish Nostalgic Memories)
1939: Enniscaven Band at Enniscaven Methodist Church. (24 August 1939 – West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser)
Post WWII: Enniscaven Brass Band active. (John Brush)
Unknown closure date.
