St Wenn is a civil parish and village six miles west of Bodmin and nine miles east of Newquay

1870: Concert at St Wenn for the benefit of Mr H Burt, of St Columb, the conductor the St Wenn Band. There was a good attendance, and the performance of the band was very creditable. (28 April 1870 – West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser)

1876: The children met at the chapel, and headed by the St Wenn Brass Band, proceeded to Carnanton grounds, returning at about four o’clock to a field. (8 July 1876 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1877: Tea was provided at the chapel. St Wenn Brass Band was in attendance, under the leadership of Mr T Hawkey, and played at intervals during the afternoon and evening. (11 May 1877 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1879: St Issey Brass Band was in attendance and marched around the village and back to the chapel, where they seated themselves on the platform … In the meantime the St Wenn Brass Band formed in procession and marched. (16 May 1879 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1879: St Wenn Brass Band was in attendance during the afternoon and discoursed some very good music under the leadership of Mr Thos. Hawkey. (20 June 1879 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1887: A tea, at which a large number were present, materially helped the funds. The St Wenn Brass Band gave their services. The bazaar was largely attended. (17 June 1887 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1887: Friends and visitors and parishioners of St Wenn, to the number of over 500. The St Wenn Brass Band was in attendance. Tables were spread in the lawn, and about 500 were supplied with a substantial tea. (15 July 1887 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1890: On Monday the teachers and scholars, headed by the St Wenn Brass Band, marched to the principal parts of the village, thence to a field kindly lent by Mr G Hocking, where tea was provided. (7 August 1890 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1890: Headed by the band of the Padstow Artillery Volunteers and the Saint Wenn Brass Band, under the leadership of Mr Tom Prynn, marched through Mr Prideaux-Brune’s private grounds. (16 October 1890 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1895: The children met in the chapel, formed into procession and marched to Egloshayle, headed by the St Wenn Band. (20 June 1895 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)

1899: In the evening the harvest thanksgiving festival was held, the offertory being devoted the Bodmin hospital. St Wenn band played during the afternoon, and merry peals were rung on the church bells. (28 September 1899 – Cornishman)
