Metherell is a village in east Cornwall situated three miles (5 km) east of Callington and two miles west of Calstock village in Calstock civil parish.
1874: “… He was a member of the Metherill Brass Band and performed with the others in the evening. …” (11 July 1874 – Royal Cornwall Gazette) This is the only reference found which indicates that it was called this, others indicate that it was a part of Harrowbarrow and Metherell Brass Band during the 1870s.
