Blackrock Band was considered to be Crowan Band, where it was based, so why they were called Blackrock is completely unknown. (John Brush)
1881: Porkellis Band, Seworgan Band, Burras Band, and Black Rock Band are no more, while Porthleven Band, alas! it is skat up. (16 July 1881 – Cornishman)
If Blackrock nband was “no more” then it clearly re-formed.
1885: Black Rock Brass Band at Coverack. (14 August 1885 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)
1885 to 1895: Blackrock Band contesting under John Carey.
1889: Black-rock band at Porkellis Sunday school tea-treat. (Cornishman 18 July 1889)
1890: Blackrock Band contesting.
1890: Black Rock Band, under Mr John Corey… (7 August 1890 – Royal Cornwall Gazette)
1895: Blackrock Band at its last contest and probably meant its death. Adjudicators report: “They sounded absolutely awful.” (John Brush)
