Mr Fly’s comments: 12th Truro would have had first place if their soprano had been in tune. The playing of the bands on the whole, excepting Devoran, was very creditable. (RCG 30th August 1866 / Lake’s Falmouth Packet and Cornwall Advertiser 1st September 1866)
