BUGLE SILVER BAND
Bugle Silver Band was formed in 1868 at Gracca, a small cluster of houses at the foot of the clay hills, north west of Bugle village. In 1927 Bugle Silver became the first band to play on Plymouth Hoe. This was a very successful time for the band, recording several contest successes in various parts of the country. The period after the 2nd World War was another successful one for the band, during which they won many prizes, including a high placing at the famous Belle Vue Contest. More recently, the band has appeared twice at the National Finals in London, and maintains its reputation as a fine marching band. John Sharman, Head of Music at a local school, has been Musical Director since 1991. During the summer months the band is in constant demand, entertaining visitors throughout the county and beyond. This is the band’s first commercial recording and contains music for all tastes. We hope you enjoy it.
