St Levan is a civil parish in with a number of hamlets of varying size with Porthcurno probably being the best known

1870: A public meeting was afterwards held, when addresses were delivered and temperance melodies sung. St Levan Brass Band were in attendance and added to the pleasures of the day by some inspiriting music. (5 January 1870 – The Cornish Telegraph)
7th September 1868: St Levan Chapel foundation stone laid and St Levan Brass Band led the procession.
