Nanpean is a village approximately 4 miles north-west of St Austell
(Shown spelt as Nepear which we assume is an error)
A few mentions of Nanpean Band leads us to the conclusion that a brass band was formed there sometime around the middle of the 19th century. It is said that Jim Yelland may have fallen out with his band at St Dennis and formed a band at Nanpean before returning to conduct St Dennis sometime around 1870. (Phillip Hunt in a presentation for Gorsedh Kernow)
Nanpean Band either survived that blow or was re-formed.
1875: Nanpean Brass Band active. (John Brush)
1886: Nanpean Band competed at the 6th Annual County Volunteer and Independent Brass Band Contest at Newquay when it was unplaced in a section comprising eleven bands.
1891: Nanpean Band competed in the Newquay Contest. (RCG 6th August 1891)
Unfortunately, nothing else has been found so if you can add to this then your contribution will be welcomed.
