Contesting
There was just one contest here, on the 17th April 1909, as far as we can tell. It was organised by St Stephen-in-Brannel Band and outside gentlemen and the adjudicator was Mr K G Evans, bandmaster of the Royal Garrison Artillery, Plymouth.
In the Royal Cornwall Gazette of the 22nd April 1909 we read that the bands met and marched to the field where they drew lots for the order for the quick-step contest around.
The test piece was either Tutti in Maschera or Mikado and the results were:
Placed | Conductor | ||
1 | Indian Queens | W Morgan of Newquay
2 | St Austell | ||
3 | St Dennis | J E Wilkinson of Bristol
4 | Stenalees | ||
In the marching contest the march was own choice and the results were:
Placed | ||
1 | St Austell | |
2 | Stenalees | |
