Goff Richards
Recorded by the Cornwall Youth Brass Band conducted by Richards Evans at the 2010 Easter Concert
2011 “… the Festival was tinged with sadness. During the day information had been received that the Cornish composer, Goff Richards, was gravely ill at his home in Cheshire.
In a spontaneous gesture of affection and respect, after the last band had played, several hundred bandsmen gathered together to play his piece, A Special Place, which was written by Goff to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice South West.
Conducted by the Chairman of the Festival, Leonard Adams, the performance was relayed to Goff’s bedside by mobile phone.” (WEBF Centenary Book)
