Benjamin Little was my great grandfather it was great to find his musical work here his grandson Gerald Medlin also born in Truro my Dad played the drums & sang in a band in Plymouth. I myself was born in Redruth & I was a purcusionist in the Royal Marines Band. So music has stayed in the family
Thank you for this Steven it is wonderful to see how people and stories connect through to the present day.
Benjamin is my great grandad. My dad was Rex Little who reformed Truro Brass Band and became its bandmaster. I was told that Benjamin lied about his age to join the army at 14 and became a drummer boy. He was also a cornish wrestler I beleive. He was well known for his wassailing so its nice to see him mentioned here. They had some information about Benjamin in Truro Museum I think. I played the trombone and later the drums and my son is a guitarist so it’s clearly in the genes…
Many thanks for this added information Ian. It adds to the story to have the background of people involved – and it clearly is in the genes!
